Melissa produced this body of work during her 2024 art residency at the Lighthouse Arts in Newcastle, Australia. She was inspired by the soft coastal greys and muted pastel tones from the salty air hanging over the city during her residency, creating a softness and sense of calm to her work. ‘Coastal Series’ consists of 5 paintings illustrating the different views outside her studio window each day as she was rotated around the lighthouse. ‘Coastal Lines’ was painted on day 4.
